Fake app called "Updates for Samsung" |
Analysts of cybersecurity organization CSIS Security Group say the update for the "Updates for Samsung" promises fake Firmware updates. Online downloading information is obvious. Many users complain about the app, it's just an aggressive advertisement display platform.
Experts at CSIS Group, in a post in the online publishing platform medium, say it is harming customers in a strategy. When it is installed, it is taken to an add-on farm page. From there, money is sought for firmware updates. Many complained that no firmware package is available even after paying the money. Experts have got the same results after testing.
The app claims that users can unlock SIM cards by spending money on any operator. Then, instead of Google Play Subscription, instead of sim unlock, it has collected money through another source.
Experts have advised users to use the actual source for any firmware update. Like other Android phone makers, software updates from the Samsung Phone settings menu.
